The Bulls Tailgating Association started its eighth year with a kickoff party celebrating the Green and White Spring Game. Over 80 people attended the initial gathering as we christened the new BBQ smoker. g

Detroit Lions
DetroitTailgate.com started in 2005 as a website for a small group of ten Lions fans to plan their tailgate parties and share photos. Three years later, DetroitTailgate.com has become Detroit Tailgate, LLC, and plays host to hundreds of Lions fans every home game with live bands, cook-offs, local celebrity appearances and sponsors. They've recently formed a partnership with the Eastern Market Corporation to help promote Detroit's Eastern Market as "the" place to tailgate in the Motor City.

The city of Detroit managed the parking lots until 2007, when the Eastern Market Corporation was formed to manage and promote the Eastern Market District including the Sunday tailgate parties. The market is home to many bars and restaurants offering shuttles to the stadium, and the Eastern Market Corporation works with the Detroit Department of Transportation to provide shuttle and taxi service at reasonable prices.
"Our partnership with the Eastern Market Corporation is a big advantage this year," says Nowak. "With their endorsement, we're able to pursue local celebrities and retired Lions players to come to the Eastern Market and hang out with the fans. It also gives us a larger profile in the local media market which translates into a bigger audience for our sponsors." When asked who might make an appearance at the tailgate parties, Nowak said, "We're talking to some big-name retired Lions, but we're keeping them a secret for now."
If the past is any indicator, Detroit Tailgate isn't kidding when they say, "You've never seen a tailgate party like this before." In 2007, the voice of the Detroit Lions' fight song, Theo "Gridiron" Spight, made two appearances and gave pep talks to the fans before leading them in singing "Gridiron Heroes."
"That was a very big thing for us," says Nowak. "It had never been done before, and the fan response was unbelievable. It's a great thing for the Lions, too, and really gets the fans involved."
Detroit Tailgate will be hosting “Gridiron” again this season, the bands Helicon and Slight Return, and their fourth annual Detroit Tailgate Chili Cook-off and a rib cook-off.

This is Alex of Club 49.
Our Grillmaster Sammie will be hosting our Kickoff Season opener this year
with a bang. Being in "The City" (a.k.a. San Francisco), we gotta add a
little flavor to it. We will be having our Tri Tips, Baby Back Ribs,
Dungeness Crab and top it off with a roasted pig. That’s just to start
the season off.
