Tailgaters Ruling The World!

The world should be run by tailgaters! Well, at least this country should. The tailgate lot is a very unique place. All are welcome whether you are a fan of the visiting team, are in love with a different driver or just don’t care about the game or race. Everyone rolls out their hospitality tents and welcomes you in as if you’re family – or at least a long lost 3rd cousin or something. The point is, tailgaters care about the current state of the lot and do everything in their power to make it as good as possible. Tailgaters can put a stop to and reverse the adverse effects of global warming. Tailgaters recycle everything from bottles and cans to discarded and unwanted RVs, buses and cars.

Let’s just get the first one out of the way. The abundance of methane gas is a leading cause in global warming. Cows produce methane gas. Tailgaters eat cows. Enough said.  Done.  Period.

Building a pyramid of empty beer cans is not about the impressive and record breaking fifteen foot high tower of cans, it’s about making sure the aluminum is separated from the garbage for recycling. When the Denver Broncos host a game during the holidays, they

actually use the empty beer cans to help decorate their Christmas Tree – now someone tell me how that isn’t helping the environment by reusing resources that would otherwise be thrown in the trash.

At the University of Maryland, local firefighters take recycling one step farther by using a truck bed and not a trash bag. If we all save one trash bag during our tailgating this year, we will keep an estimated 50 million trash bags out of the landfills. Tailgaters in Northern California at Infineon Raceway use empty beer bottles to furnish their homes with chandeliers.

Why not take things a step further and recycle something bit larger, like an old school bus? That’s just what tailgaters across the country do every year. For example, Mark and Justin from Indianapolis have an old school bus they’ve saved call Old Blue. They have it at all the Colts’ home games.

Tim Shanley in Chicago has “da Bears Bus,” a 1971 school bus that he’s turned into a rolling museum. Not only does Tim keep an old bus out of the landfill and junkyard,

but he’s taken the opportunity to educate today’s youth by giving tours and information about the history of the Chicago Bears and the team’s players. What an important lesson in dedication and hard work.

Tailgaters feed the hungry, cloth the naked (un-clothe if it’s too warm) and re-hydrate those in need. Every lot has tailgaters and fans wandering around in search of the best tailgating experience.  In Cleveland, you can’t walk by

the Braylon Bunch without them being concerned about dehydration. Even in the cold months, you have to keep plenty of liquids in your body. These guys can hydrate eight tailgaters at a time.  In Oakland the Tailgaters BBQ Party fixes enough food to feed two Refrigerator

Parrys, and you can’t walk by without eating.

These are just a few reasons why tailgaters should run the world. It can’t be done by Republicans or Democrats, that’s for sure! So this year during the debates, send in your questions and ask the candidates how they are prepared to help global warming. Ask them if they can help solve the landfill crisis. Ask them if they become president, if they will refurnish the White House from recycled materials. Ask them, do you tailgate?

By the way, there is another party other than the democratic and republican parties – It’s the Tailgate Party and you are a supporter. This year, our Commissioner of Tailgating, Joe Cahn, is running for office. Just thought I’d let you know…
