Don’t Forget
Your Stuff!
You've
seen 'em. Lists. They're everywhere -- "The Book of Lists," Dave
Letterman's Top 10 List,” your kid’s Christmas list, the ever-popular
"Honey-Do" List.
Well, for your
entertainment pleasure, and to ensure that you don't ever forget anything
ever again, The Tailgater presents The Ultimate Tailgating
Check-List. Let's face it, all of us have traveled to the game or race
and realized that we had forgotten something.
It's a chance for us at
The Tailgater to really make a difference. If we can help just one
tailgater to remember to bring the matches, then we've made a difference
in the world! To make it easy, simply print out this list and use it to
check off the stuff that has actually gone into the car. We're sure this
will stir debate about things we left off, so let us know what we've
forgotten and we'll add them to the list. Remember - Think ahead and plan
ahead.
The Ultimate Tailgating Check-List
The Basics:
o Tent or Tarp
o Table
o Table Cloth (in team colors)
o Chairs (with team logo on them)
o Grill
o Propane or Charcoal & Lighter Fluid
o Matches or Lighter
o Ice
o Ice Chest or Cooler (again with team logo)
o Cooking Utensils (spatula, cooking fork, cooking spoon, etc.)
o Cooking Pans/Pots
o Pot Holders
o Jug of Water (to drink or douse flame before kick off)
o Meat Thermometer
o Can Opener
o Trash Bag
o Barbeque Brush & Sauce Cup
o Wood Chips
o Handy Wipes
o Towels
Paper Stuff:
o Plates, Knives, Forks, etc.
o Drinking Cups
o Napkins/Paper Towels
o Tin Foil
Food List - This sub list is divided into three categories: Drinks,
Appetizers and Main Dishes.
o Drinks - This is a no-brainer. Prepare your beverage list the
night before. Chill Beer and Wine in the 'fridge and then transfer them
into the cooler filled with ice right before leaving for the game. Don't
forget the drink cups (with your team's logo on it) and ice for the soft
drinks, or "pop" as they say in the mid-west.
o Appetizers - If you have chips, don't forget the dip. And if you
need utensils to serve the appetizer, don't forget the spoons, toothpicks,
forks, etc. And if you are melting cheese in a Fondue set-up (it's back!),
don't forget the Sterno! Also, if you're serving chips, don't forget a
chips basket. For a touch of class, the Appetizer Helmet from The
Tailgater Equipment Shop can be used as an ice bucket or as a chip & dip
holder.
o Main Dishes - If you're grilling burgers, don't forget the buns,
cheese, onions, mushrooms, condiments or any of the other toppings.
Likewise, with chicken don't forget the barbecue sauce, salt, pepper, hot
stuff, etc. And of course before you do anything - DO THE MATH! Did you
buy enough brats for everyone (especially if your brother-in-law eats
double his share)? Count how many you are expecting for the tailgate and
BUY MORE in case those wacky neighbors who park next to you decide to
crash the tailgate! Go to The Tailgater Calculator to help you figure
amount and cost.
o Condiments - Have a separate stash in a small cardboard box that
fits in the lower rungs of the refrigerator. Then all you've got to do is
grab the box and go instead of taking each bottle out of the 'fridge one
at a time and possibly forgetting something. This should include Meat
Rubs, Salt & Pepper and other regularly used spices.
Other Cool Stuff:
o Camera
o Football or Frisbee
o Oven Mitts
o First Aid Kit (if you forget the oven mitts)
o Fire Extinguisher (if you go too far!)
o Flag, Flag Pole, Flag Pole Holder
o Bungee Cords/Rope (to secure tent, rain tarp or flag)
o Empty Plastic Milk Container (If the port-a-john line is too long!)
o Sun Glasses
o Sunscreen
o Rain Gear
o Seat Cushions
Don't Forget Your Stuff! - You can find a lot of these things at The
Tailgater Equipment Shop! |
